Does anyone make 22 jet ammo anymore
Back in the 80's I use to shoot my friends 53. I remember any chance he could he bought ammo or brass without hesitation, telling me "pretty soon this stuff will be gone forever".Does any manufacturer still make that 22 rem jet ammo or brass?

You may find a speciality manufacturer that still makes the 22 Rem Jet but they are expensive. Mashburn’s Safari & Military Goods sells the Mashburn custom 22 Rem Jet Magnum for a hefty price of $60 per box of 50.

Graf and Sons has PRVI 22 jet brass in stock. Occasionally, I see Rem. brass listed. I have used a lot of the PRVI brass and found it very good. I suggest checking case length on it or Rem. They tend to be a bit long and this can bump up pressure. The Graf brass is 25.99 per 100 and is item #PPU22JET. I shoot my Jet with a cast gascheck bullet and a moderate load. I real fun combination.

The stuff I've bought from Reed's Ammunition is the best I've ever used in a Jet.

The Scrounger has Jet....
Old Western Scrounger lists loaded .22 Jet at $49.95 / 50.
22 REMINGTON JET 40GR SP [6560] - $49.95 : The Old Western Scrounger LLC.
I've never used it as I still have a case and a half left of Factory stuff....

Does anyone still make Jet ammo? Me. But you'll have a hard time getting me to part with any ammo, brass, or bullets!
I've been playing the ammo hoarding game for a long time now. With Jets, its necessary to constantly be on the lookout for components. All Jet shooters are reloaders. Its just too expensive to fire factory ammo. Unless you're doing it to get more brass! The hot ticket on Jets is to find private tables at the smaller gun shows. You may go to a dozen shows a year and then only find one or two boxes. Do that for 20 years and you are pretty well set. Don't be too picky. The best deals are on half fired boxes of ammo. Most of the shooters were pretty good about it and they put their fired brass back in the Remington styrofoam holders. So what you normally get is a half box of ammo and the other 25, give or take, empty brass. Prices for partial boxes of ammo are almost always pretty good. Figure a full box will have an asking price of $75 and sell for $60. Half a box will normally sell for about $25. Whats not to like?
I've never met a Jet shooter who was in the game for the short run. They all plan ahead and stock components when they find them. If you look long and hard enough, you can sometimes even find Remington bags of virgin brass. Just buy them all up when you see that.

as case is a reformed 38/357 case- you would be able to reform /trim cases to make jet brass with little difficulty.

I found a small baggie of brass at a show last year and scarfed it up quickly. 32 pieces. It's out there, you just have to look for it.

JETS & BRASS
A few years back there was a special run of brass. While I had some socked away, I bought a whole case. Will last for what time I have left. Now and then you see it listed but the price has doubled from what I paid for my last case.

Last time I spoke to the Folks at Remington they told me they still made seasonal runs of Jet Brass.
I have just over 50 boxes of factory jet Ammo, I would love to part with, I also have nearly 1000 rounds of reloaded ammo, plus many hundreds of rounds of Jet brass. Contact me, I'm more than happy to part with some of this, as I will never use it all. I don't shoot all that often.

I recently saw a bag of 50 1x fired remington cases for only about 20 bucks at a local gun shop but had no use for it, But I noticed it because I've always wanted one of those guns and almost bought one back in 1970, not long after they were introduced.
I'd still kind of like to get one with an 8 3/8ths inch barrel and the aluminum cylinder inserts, but I imagine they are pricey.
I'm a reloader so I wouldn't have any problems with putting together some nice loads for one of those beauties.

I know this is old but may have a chance to pick up a 53 this week. Do you still have any ammo to sell?
Thanks

At the OGCA show earlier in the month a guy on the left wall (as you walk in) had two stacks of ammo. One stack was 22 Jet the other 221 Fireball. He wanted $5o a box for it. Its still out and about, just rare.

Picked up the model 53 not collector quality but sound and tight. Fired with 22 lr throught the incerts and worked perfect but not the way to shoot this gun. Would like to find some ammo jet ammo and give it a try and will probably pass the gun along. Any help with ammo appreciated.
Thanks

Look back 8 posts on this thread at Smithfan 4152 sounds like he might be able to help you. If you put an add in the want to buy section I think you might have some luck there also, anyway good luck with your new peice and enjoy it. Hope you find the ammo your looking for and maybe a 22lr cylinder to shoot out of instead of the inserts.

Dontcha just hate it when the new guy comes on and dredges up an old thread from 3 1/2 years ago??
I was just in Cabela's because I heard they got in a butt load of .22 ammo. Man did they and I was there even 3 days after I heard about it! More "Flavors" than you could shake a stick at and no limit!
I was perusing the shelves of .22 when, just sitting there staring at me, was this box...:
I couldn't believe my eyes. This holds a special place in my heart because my best friend had 'borrowed' his Uncles Model 53 and a bunch of ammo to go with it. We shot the **** outta that thing and had a blast! That's probably why I can't hear for **** nowadays. I'll bet his Uncle really appreciated it as well! I have always wanted to pick up a 53 ever since then. Maybe this is the 'sign' I needed!
So, I guess to answer an old question... yeah, somebody does still make it. They are PPU Ammunition and it looks like they are made in Serbia, of all places!
I mean 19 bucks on sale... how could I pass it up?! I asked the guy behind the counter if they had any more and he said he would have nabbed it if he saw it! Just the one box. I got home with my new box of .22 Remington Jet and did a Google search and found this thread and you guys!
Have a great one guys!
Robert

There is always some oddball ammo to be found if you look hard enough. I shoot a number of guns chambered in obsolete, obsolescent, and unusual foreign calibers (and reload for most of them), and have so far always been able to find (or make) brass and/or ammo without too much effort. In fact it's easier now than it used to be, because of the internet.

I can personally attest that they sell it by the case.
