Followed me home. Request Info
I just purchased a S&W Mod 13-2 357 mag nickel plated with SN 4D65XXX and was hoping to get a little information like the year it was made. I paid $450.00 for it the condition is excellent no wear and doesn't look like it was fired very much. There was no holster wear. I researched the internet and only seen blued models for sale and they were selling between 400 - 550 and looked like they had wear. One of my big concerns is if it is safe to shoot todays 357 mag ammo in it. I don't know if todays ammo is hotter than it was 30 years ago. This is my first revolver. It was so pretty I just had to have it.

It was shipped in 1979 and you can shoot all the .357 in it that your hand can stand.

My buddy Dick is right... that's one fine sidearm. Nickle guns are more resistant to weather so it should male a great, "no frills" outdoors revolver.
It is widely believed that modern .357 rounds are somewhat less potent than the earlier stuff, but it's still a very efficient and powerful round.

Bought my first one (M-65 - stainless version) in July of 76....endeavored to "shoot it till the barrel fell off" for the next ten years....it was my off duty gun up until 1988.....that gun has well over 40,000 rds thru it, and I spent last Tuesday shooting another 400 rds of magnums thru it....so don't be afraid to shoot your 13....I have a lot of trigger time on K frame magnums....there is a lot of misinformation out there abt their durability. Great gun you have there, shoot it, enjoy it.

OH MAN! you lucky dude and hell yea it can shoot anything you feed it but dont forget for softer recoil defensive .38+p would be choice.

Safe? Certainly. However, I use mild .38 Special handloads for 99.9% of my shooting.
