Nickel 586 price check?
If I want to buy a 586 that is factory nickel plated and has a four inch barrel... How bad is this going to hurt??? I know prices vary by region but I'm looking for an average. Thanks ahead to any who can offer reasonable answers. The one I'm looking at has a $700 asking price. I know he will come down some, but how much lower to I need him to go before it's a reasonable offer???
I'm not trying to get a steal of a deal, I just want to make sure I don't vastly over pay once again for something only for a lack of knowledge of what they are going for. I'm even willing to pay a little extra if it means getting one or not getting one.
EDIT: Changing which gun I'm looking at since the one I was looking at is now gone... I missed out. (maybe)

Hmmm. That sounds like a good price. Maybe I'll need to drive down there tomorrow!

Changed what gun I'm looking at since the other one sold. Guess the asking price wasn't that bad on the other one. Now I'm eye'ing a nickel 586. No box or stuff, but gun w/targets in what I would say is an 8 +/-1. It's clearly used, but very not abused. It looks like it just needs to be cleaned up. I want a 586 pretty bad, but this price seems way too high.

How badly do you want one? I would be unwilling to pay more than $500.00 TOPS and would feel a lot better at $450.00 for what you describe. Do though keep in mind that prices seem to be going up again.

Gun alone, $475 to $575 depending on conditon. I know, wide range, but I have seen them at a couple of shows in great conditon no box for $575, and a couple with some milkey areas for $500. Hope that helps.

I think they only came in paper boxes. My 4" nickel came that way.

I was quoting a price for the other gun he asked about before he edited his post. I'm aware that 586's did not come in a presentation case.

$450.00-550.00 depending on condition without the box. Paid 255.00 for my 4" nickel 5 years ago. Mine has a few small bad spots on the cylinder but is by far my most accurate centerfire S&W. They have great triggers and gobble up .357's. Have well over 20k rounds (mostly .38's) through it and still runnin strong. Never had the M Mod done and it's never malfunctioned.
One of the best revolvers to ever leave the factory!

Thanks JC for the "Like"! I take it you have one too? Really a great revolver. Would love a 3" RB model to match my 3" CS-1. I'd go 1k easily for one in nickel! The 586 has a better trigger in both DA and SA modes and is way more accurate than the Customs revolver.
Here again are the same pics of it. Need to take new ones. The old Herretts improved my accuracy with it and also feel great in my hand. Since the pics I took years ago I've stained them a darker shade and applied 3 coats of poly to it. Really brought out the grain.
