1977 Nickel 27-2, 3.5 inch lucky find!
This is the reason that my 28 is looking for a new home. I couldn't afford both, and this is a perfect match to a blue one that I already have (last photo). It has the documents, yellow lift strap, and lift label, but I left them out of the photos. Please forgive my photography on these, as I am still trying to get indoor lighting without glare or reflection, and with nickel it is tough. It was listed on one of the auction sites as a 4 inch, and didn't have a thumbnail. I started to pass it by, but I'm very happy that I didn't. When I was searching for my blue one, I didn't think that I would find one. But with Sal as my coach, I finally found one, but, at a premium price. But again, advice from Sal, if you find what you want, buy the nicest one that you can afford. I see members frequently looking for 3.5's, and my advice is to do what Sal told me to do,"keep looking, be patient & wait for what you want." I even had someone tell me on the first one," I've got one for sale, it has a lot of wear and blueing loss, but if you buy mine, when you find what you want maybe you can trade". Please.............................PS - the specks are just lint, no flaws.

That's a gorgeous Model 27. With that 3 1/2" barrel, it looks like all business.
Now you have a dilemma; do you shoot the new one, or not.

I didn't get all the way through the pictures. Had to stop, to hard on my heart. Not as young as I use to be, will try again tomorrow.
Beautiful.

I have long fingers, and magnas have never been comfortable. Plus, this is the first 70s vintage n frame that I have had in quite a while that had the box with all the info as it was shipped, and I am going to leave it as it is. It is the only n frame that I have that doesn't have RR/WO sights, and two of them were sent by me to S&W to have them installed. My 58 year old vision needs them, however that won't be an issue with this one, a safe queen for sure.
Thanks,
DLB

Super sweet addition to your collection David! Right now the 3.5" 27-2 is one of the most sought after S&W N frames and you have found a beautiful nickel model, unused with the complete package. Congrats and a very nice photo presentation too. Bob

OMG! I don't know which one is nicer...the nickle or the blue steel! I would take a second mortgage on my house to own either one of those. Great find!

dlb,
I did not realize that you could order "brand new" Model 27s anymore. Please PM me with your distributor's information.

Some of the different websites that sell as classifides, or auctions, have automaic systems that will e-mail you every day, just like this forum. In some cases you can be as specific as you want as to what you are looking for, and only those items will be in the e-mail. You can even have it so that relists, guns that have already gone through the system one time, will not be repeated. I found the blue one in one of those e-mails. You have to be ready, that is to know what you want, have a maximum you are willing to pay, and be diligent about checking the e-mails. This is just my advice to anyone who doesn't have other resources like gunshops, pawn shops, gun shows, and friends who buy, sell & trade. Yes, they both look brand new, and I feel fortunate to have found them. Thanks to all who have commented, as it is very enjoyable, informative, and at times, a little humor.
