Default Model 15-3 LE Markings?

Recently bought a well-used 15-3 (speckled finish, but the cylinder locked up tight and the trigger action smooth) with serial # 8K67xxx (1975?). On the left side of the frame, below the cylinder, it is marked "L.A.S.D. 3037" which may represent some law enforcement agency/inventory number. Is anyone familiar with those initials?

it's my understanding that the LA Sheriffs Office issued Model 15's in blue all through the '60s and into the mid '70s when they bought model 67's.

Nice find.

I also have one marked L.A.S.D. 11., serial # 6K76XXX. Very well used but a nice shooter.
I understood it to be Los Angles Sheriff Dept. I have not lettered it.
My grips had a officers name carved into them.
