Default The cost of a letter?

I'm leaning toward having my 28-2 lettered from S&W when I get it home. What is the going rate for a letter from Mr. Jinks, and what information is provided?

Is it possible to request specifics, such as the number produced in a series? I ask this second question because I may letter my 6690 3rd Gen. My research shows fewer than 900 of those produced, so knowing the actual number would be interesting.

Thanks

The letter is $50. It will tell you the ship date and destination, and how the gun was configured when it left the factory (barrel length, finish, stocks). For a relatively large production number gun, the exact number may not be known, but if it is it should be mentioned in the letter.

Firearm History Request - Smith & Wesson

This page shows an example letter, and has the form for submitting letter requests. When you send for your letter, be specific on the details of your gun and what you would like to find out. Mr. Jinks documents what is reflected in company records, but the more specific your request the more it will help his research. He is an incredible wealth of knowledge on S&W firearms. I have seen some letters with info on limited runs or special details, but it depends on the model.
