The most accurate rimfire revolver that I have ever shot was a Holster worn Pre 18 that I foolishly sold when I was young because I didn't know what I had. I now have a beautiful 18-4 which is a fine gun, but it does not have the exceptional double action trigger or the accuracy that the Pre 18 had.

I have an older Browning Buckmark Pro Target 5" slabside that shoots one hole groups with - get this - Remington Golden Bullets!

The most accurate centerfire revolver that I have ever fired is my 625-2 Model of 1988 .45 ACP. It is scary accurate for all who fire it. Seems it likes my handloads of Precision Delta 230 grain FMJ hardball over 231.

My 617-1 .22 w/a six-inch tube drives tacks out to 25 yards. It's pretty much stock with an action job consisting of about 4000 rds fired, six at a time...very accurate little (big) revolver.

my 10-6 is as accurate as my old eyes will allow. It's a pleasure to shoot.

My first revolver, in fact the first handgun I ever fired other than a pellet pistol, was a Ruger Blackhawk in .45 Colt, 7 1/2" bbl. I bought it new (well, my Dad made the transaction) when I was 16.

I shot that thing many thousands of times (I bought a used press and reloaded). It was accurate to the extreme, even at long ranges. I eventually wore the thing out (don't let anybody tell you you can't wear out a Ruger) before it was stolen.

Now the accuracy trophy goes to my 1951 22 Combat Masterpiece. It's uncannily accurate even with my not-so-good-anymore eyes, better in fact than my two K22 Masterpieces. It's a honey.

4" 624, which may have something to do with the caliber. Before that, a 6" Python with .38s. Duh.

I have been blessed with the accuracy of my revolvers, but one stands alone even in a very accurate group, past and present; my 29-3 6 1/2 inch nickel-it makes me look good.

For a center fire ditto for me on a 586-3 6 inch.

For a rim fire it's a model 17-2.

The revolvers have more potential and ability than I.

This Model 317 .22 is NOT the most accurate revolver that I have fired but I used this gun (Model 317s are often described as being inaccurate) to shoot this 7 shot off-hand group at 15 yards.
As others have said "it's not the gun it's the shooter."

In over fifty years of shooting more than 300 different handguns, I have found that it is a combination of having the right gun AND the right ammo to achieve the best accuracy. The right guns means a gun that feels right and shoots right for YOU.

My Photobucket site (BubbaBlades) has pictures of my targets from more than 100 different handguns. As the target pictures show, there are at least a dozen revolvers that are the most accurate (for me).

I'll play here. And I won't be showing off my pretty gun. In fact, I believe the most accurate center fire revolver I have shot is an old S&W 32-20. Kind of rough on the outside but amazing to shoot. I still have it. Hard to say on the rim fire side. There have been so many really accurate guns, mostly K-22's.

Centerfire -- my Uberti 1873 Flat Top Target .45 Colt. I won't describe group sizes and get called a liar, but when I shoot at anything with it I don't miss! Six months ago, I won two bets by hitting a bottle cap at 25 yards -- twice!

Rimfire -- a Ruger Super Single Six I have been trying to beg, borrow, or steal off my shooting buddy for 20 years or more.

For me and every one in my family it has to be our 625-8. I know it has the infernal lock and mim parts. but its just one of those guns that really shines. All you do is point and shoot- no fancy aiming etc- and it hits the target. I never put it on paper - yet- but I`m sure it will print awesome groups.

A .38 HBWC on top of 2.8 grains of Bullseye IS a fantastic load.
It's one of my favorites because it's so accurate AND so economical.

See that grin in the first pic?
THAT'S the exact same grin I get when I shoot my 15-3 and my 586.
I look goofy as hell when I shoot my Smiths.
I can't help it. They're just such good shooters.
My 4" 10-6 is ugly as a monkey's butt and it shoots MUCH better than it has a right to. It's trigger is SO sweet.
My 2-3/8" Dan Wesson 14-2 does it to me also.
It's a fantastically accurate revolver. It seems to shoot every load well.
Too bad it's trigger isn't as grin-inducing as my Smiths.

Hard to tell.

I suspect most, if not all, are inherently more accurate than I am

I've owned and/or shot just about every revolver made 30 to 40 years ago. Colt, Ruger, and Smith & Wesson. Most of these revolvers were accurate enough for their intended purpose. That said, I read a couple of entries in this thread about older Model 10 HBs. So, here goes.

In the early 1970s, I bought a new Model 10 HB. This revolver would shoot really good. One day at the range, my buddy had reloaded some 38s that consisted of 95 gr. Sierra HPs, meant for the .380 into a 38 Special case over a healthy dose of Blue Dot. That load was a real pip. Anyway, with that load, I could hit a soda can laying on the backstop of the range at 60 yds. I could hit that can 4 out of 6 times, with every cylinder full I shot. That was standing there holding the revolver target style (one hand on the revolver, and the other in my left front pants pocket). This Model 10 could do that as long as I could. It was the Energizer Bunny with that particular load. I've shot other revolvers that are what I would consider very accurate, including my Dad's pre-Model 15, but nothing could touch that Model 10. And,......dumb old me traded it off back in the 70s.........D___ A__, D___ A___, D___ A___,............

The only revolver I ever owned that was not superbly accurate was a 25-3 125th anniversary model I had in the late 70's. Truly beautiful gun, but it shot patterns. Back in those days I didn't know about the oversize throat issue. I may have been able to make it into a shooter with the right ammo. I was deeply disappointed with that gun and tool a pretty good loss when I sold it.

My most accurate revolvers by far would most definitely have to be the brace of 6" Colt Pythons that I used for bulls eye shooting back in the late '60's.
Custom fit Herrett's target grips and 2.7 grs. B'Eye, Rem. 148 gr. HBWC bullets.

FWIW, after thought...neither of these Pythons ever had a single round of .357 Mag. ammo fired thru them. I wish I still had them...

Hello
The most accurate Center fire revolver that Ihave ever fired is my Pre-25 that shipped let for a five screw being April of 1959. With my hand loads it will make one ragged hole result's @ the 25 Yard line. The most accurate rim fire revolver I have ever fired is my Transitional K-22 that shipped in November 1947

Default What kind of accuracy?

Inherent accuracy can only be tested with a Ransome or similar rest; a lot of accuracy claims really boil down to which gun a particular shooter for a variety of reasons shoots best. Most high-quality revolvers will shoot better than most people can hold, even off bags.

I agree 100%.
I've always thought that I would like a set of RR inserts for my current 6" Python and check out how well it will do setup on my RR.
Unfortunately, my gun club does not have a solid platform to mount the RR on.

1975 python @ 100yds. I could ping anything.
My norinco 1911a1 shoots clover leafs at 25yds.

I haven't tried my Smith's yet.

Besides back pain I now have vertigo. Not the movie.

Every revolver I have ever shot in .41 magnum has left me awestruck. I have never found a cartridge/revolver combination in that caliber that was not frighteningly accurate, even with me working the trigger.

Regards, Steve

I have many Smiths and, as others have said, they are all very accurate. However, an original 1917 .45, that I owned back when I could see itty bitty sights, was the most accurate handgun that I have ever fired. It was absolutely phenomenal and I still have the trophies that I won with it.

I shot some 110 gr Sierras over 7.0 of Unique in my newest Model 67 last week that worked pretty good, too. The IL Model 67 is very accurate, and I'm happy
