Easy for me too. My late Dad's K22. He bought it 48ish when he came home a decorated officer from the Pacific Theater of operation.

My favorite is my 2 1/2" Model 66-4. It's my primary carry gun 3/4ths of the year, and at 10 yards it's a tack driver with 125 gr XTPs.

The only fun handgun is one you can hit something with. The K38 with the old standard target load of 2.7 gr. Bullseye under a good 148 gr. hbwc bullet and if you cannot hit that bullseye....it ain't the gun.

A timely thread for me in the process of retirement "down-sizing" (aka...too many firearms....some have to go!). it was only a couple weeks ago that I had to make some very hard (for me anyway) "K Frame" choices, so out of the five below you can easily see my "favorites". The Model 14, and the Outdoorsman went quickly to Forum Members, and the Model 19 is still up for grabs on the forum. Unlisted (and hopefully never) are the Model 10, and the Model 15. When I like big bore "wrist twist" action it is usually the Model 25, Model 28, Model 29 N framers, but the Mod 10 and 15 get their fair share of exercise time too...........guess I am more of a shooter type guy than purist collector, or even accumulator.

PS. I forgot the 1942 Victory in 1950's dress (Mershon rubber) but he just looks plain ugly if going to the dance with the above blue steel and walnut Smith's, so usually stays home as the "wallflower".

Here is my newest K frame acquisition. It have very quickly become one of my favorites! It is a little too old to be in this section of the forum since it is a 1949 Model 10.

I like 2" square butt K frames. The one with the round butt is my only pre war snubbie.

I'm very impressed with the action on my s&w k38 combat masterpiece in 38 special with a 4" barrel. I don't think it can get any better. I have a pre 14 and a pre 15 that are pretty much the same actions. But it was the action on my 1948 k22 I purchased for my grandson that started all this interest in s&w revolvers.

I have two now. Two 10-5's. A 1970 4" pencil and 1966 2"

Round butts fit my hand better but that 4" pencil barrel is very attractive to my eye.

My favorite is my first, a 6 inch model 14-3. It has the 3 Ts and is easily my best shooting K frame. I bought a matching model 17 also.

No question the 66/19 2.5" is my all time favorite K frame, however my 4" 17-6 isn't far behind.

Without a doubt my 1978 66-1 I took a looong time to find. Came with everything it did from the factory. And it's a great shooter too!

I simply can't narrow it down, so mine are:

Sm: M10-7 2" nickel
Md: M66 no dash 4"
Lg: M14-3 6"

These are ALL incredible shooters!

Like most everyone else it's hard to pick only one. So I'll have to say my 4" 547 and my 16-3.

I know this is against the question of choosing only one favorite K-frame revolver, but I'd like to show y'all my two favorites; Model 15 and Model 19. In my humble opinion, the two finest models S&W ever produces.

Model 15-4 "Combat Masterpiece"

Model 19-3 "Combat Magnum"

Thanks for looking at my two favorite S&W K-frame revolvers.

God bless,
Birdgun

Once I would've said the 4" Model 19. Now.....

It has to be the much unloved Model 12s. I've got 3 snubbie 12s (RB, SB, & a pre 12 alloy cylinder RB). All of these are "flat latches". I also just acquired a 4" SB from 1980. There is just something I love about them!!

My first K frame was a 4" blue M19, bought new in 1979. I round butted it and carried it to the police academy. Shot NRA Expert with it. An ex-wife wound up with it.

I bought a nice nickel 4" M19 in 2006. My wife wound up with it. At least I still have this wife and she lets me clean HER M19.

I bought a factory round butt 4" .38 M&P from a fellow Forum member a year or so ago. It is a good shooter.

Some day I'll get another 4" M19 or a M66. If it isn't a RB, it will be soon.

Any square butt M&P, 2" & 4", post-war, pre-model #. They really ring my bell.

2.5" 19's & 66's are good, so are 3" 13's & 65's....a nice 2" 15 is pretty sweet as well....nothing wrong with a 2" 64 either......

Old thread and a long time since my first response................. love my 3" 66s ........ but now have to add a 90% pre-18 I picked up last spring......nothing like a 4" K-frame .22 for a fun day at the range or one not "too nice" to carry when you have the chance to spend the day in the Penn's Woods!!!!!

Probably my 2.5" Model 19!

I really like it with the pictured Hogue grips!

Thanks for looking at my two favorite S&W K-frame revolvers.

God bless,

Time to tighten the forward retaining screw for the rear sight. Great looking piece nonetheless!

That is a beautiful package - gun, grips and photo ... and the OCD part of me likes that all the pencils in the background are sharpened very nicely and all pointed in the same direction...

SLT223, you are correct! The forward retaining screw took three-quarters of a turn. Thanks.

Both of the guns you showed are very nice. Is the "red post" front sight factory?

I like fixed sight K frames either pre war or post war stainless, blued or nickel.
This is my current favorite, a 64-3, fits my hand, balances well, easy to carry and I shoot it well.

boykinlp, no, the red post is Testor enamel hobby paint. Easier to see with my 70-year-old eyes.

God bless,
