I have an early 60s flat latch J frame, 33-1 that is very tight, and does not appear to have been fired much. I noticed that the cylinder stop mechanism at the bottom of the frame window seems to ride a little low, and sure enough, if I jiggle the cyl around a little, I am able to get it to jump out of the ramped side of the slot and rotate to the next chamber.
I tried to pull it up with my fingernails to see if it was just resting on some grease or dirt, but it just seems to sit lower in the slot than my other revolvers.
As I type this, I'm wondering if someone stoned the edges a little, in order to avoid a turn line, and went too far. The edges do look a little more rounded than my other SW's. Any thoughts on the cause, and the fix?
