Sometimes you buy something for no good reason!
Well. I now have a scoped Model 28. I don't know why! Actually I do. I could not turn down a 1969 vintage (early N serial number) Model 28 in this condition for $400. The grips have a big ding but they match. I don't hunt so I guess I'll try my hand at punching paper at 100 yards. The scope is a 1.5x Bushnell and it appears the mount fits in place of the rear sight. I guess I need to keep my eyes open for a good price on a sight but I have a 1962 vintage 6" Model 28 so I'll probably just keep it like this. Help me out here! Why do I need a scoped revolver?

Because it's a N frame and you don't need a reason!

You needed a Mod 28 scoped revolver because it cost $400 dollars.
That's why they cost more where i'm from, all the ones I've looked at have had the scope removed! That would make it a custom gun. LOL

Ok, this is kind of ironic. I have to ask is that a common optic and mount? I just picked up a model 15 and it had the exact same set up. I am currently deciding if I am going to sell it or maybe keep it for a revolver down the road.

$400 is a good as reason as any to pick up a clean S Series Model 28.
Should any of your friends give you a hassle about the scope? Just tell em'.."Hey, it's a carry handle till I find a rear sight".

Scopes come off as easily as they go on. Like you said, pick up a rear sight somewhere and you have a great N-frame shooter for 4 beans.

As you age, your eye's will tell you the scope is easier to hit with.

Actually, no reason is most often the best reason. Nice looking 28. Enjoy.

Almost all the guns I own are for no good reason, but I like them all. $400 for that Model 28? I would have bought it too!

Sometimes you just feel like shooting more than 25 yards, and when you do, it's nice to actually see the center ring/bullseye/target or whatever.... jus keep one around with open/iron sights too.

Because you can you do. Can't think of a better way to spend $400.

Well now you can fully explore the accuracy possibilities of various handloads....
You could also find yourself another 27/28 cylinder and rechamber it in .357-44 Bain & Davis for some real fun in handloading, case forming and cartridge "wildcatting".
This gun could really increase your handgunning knowledge and experience.

Because it's better to mount a scope on a 28 than a 27?
