Have found both at local shops. What are the approximate born on dates? Which should I consider? The 36 is 2" and the 37 is 3". The 37 may be in better shape for about the same money. Advice from the pros here?

You'll need serial numbers to help narrow down the ship dates; the 36 and 37 were made from 1957 to 1988. (The 36-1 was made for many of the same years with a heavy 3" barrel so did not replace the 36.) The 3" gun may be a little easier to shoot with the extra inch of sight radius, but if concealment is the issue the 2" may be preferable.
