29-2 S Serial #'d with Diamond Targets (Update; Got it Home PICS)
Smith & Wesson Model 29-2 S series : Revolvers at GunBroker.com
UDPATE 03/12/12 She's home and she's purty
Cylinder scrape is not as bad as I expected. this gun is NICE and the grips are AMAZING. Thought I was buying a nice shooter grade but this baby is a keeper!
S279873 dates to 1967.....The grips look original to the gun, when were Cokes eliminated? 67/68? Would a letter tell me which it shipped with?

Great score! I was watching that one and wondered if someone from here would get it. Let us know how it shoots.

Nice score! I saw that gun just after the auction ended. Good thing for you We would have been bidding against! Enjoy. My 29 no dash is due to arrive from Sal Wed or Thursday. Can't wait!

Nice looking old gun. I wouldn't be surprised if your stocks are OE to the gun. It is probably in that change over period where the coke bottle stocks were going away and diamond targets were on the way in. They sure look like they belong on it. I have a Model 29 not too far away from yours (just a bit lower number) and it has cokes. I think either one could occur on a gun in that s/n range.

Coke bottle stocks were phased out beginning in early 1966, so I believe the stocks on your 29-2 are original.
