I have a model 14-4 of a friends. I am trying to determine how the front sight comes off. It doesn't look pinned and appears to be pressed in. Does anyone know for sure on the proper removal?

What I'm trying to accomplish is either changing the front sight with a Hi-Viz type or just cutting an insert. Currently the sight is straight black steel with no insert or dot; it makes it difficult for him to see. (Me too)

Any help will be appreciated very much.

If it is not pinned, it cannot be removed. Send to the factory & have them install what you require. The have the equipment & expertise to get the job done right. The new one will be pinned when you get it back.

You may want to try painting the front sight bright red or some color that you can easily see. Model airplane paint works well.
