Unhappy Gun Show S&W 19-3

Model 19s are out of my small sphere of knowledge of most anything less than an N frame. I found a private seller with a blue Model 19-3 that sported a 2.5" barrel and only showed some holster wear at the muzzel and a couple of small rub spots. Asking price was $425, it had rubber boots. Case colors were 100% and very bright. I passed on it but had the opposite of buyers remorse, no deal remorse!!!. As I sit here I am comtemplating a return to his table in the morning with the off chance it still might be there, LOL! What is the going price for a stubby 19-3. Educate me!!!

that's about right for around here.

anything less than a 4" barrel is usually north of $400.

I think you missed your opportunity to buy it, but you should probably go back to make sure. How late in the day did you see it?

If its in good shape thats a pretty fair price even without factory grips .

I prefer my K Magnums in the 4" SB variation.
The snubs are too big to carry and too small to target shoot IMO.
Still great guns.

I agree that sounds like a real good deal to me if you are looking for a k-frame snubby.

One small suggestion. Take a small screwdriver with you when you go back to take off the rubbers... check that there's no rust under there that will show up when you put factory stocks back on it. Then, get out your wallet. I think that is a dandy price.

I see you are in Florida, did you go to the Ocala or Tampa gun show? (or somewhere else?)

The gun shows around here, prices are usually awful. I went to the Tampa gun show today and was surprised to the point that my wallet was significantly lighter when I left.

I think the price you saw was decent to good.

That is a great price. I don't know where you guys are findin' $400 dollar 19 snubs. I sold mine (ANIB) here a couple of years ago for $650. I didn't realize that prices were coming DOWN!

It would go fast here, the 2.5" 19s are both in short supply and north of that price.

If you can find that guy, go buy it NOW! Why don't I find deals like that? As I have said before, all I find are M10's with all the finish gone for $400!

If it was tight, it wouldn't be sitting there if I was.

Unhappy M19-3

Thanks for the education guys. I made the trip all the way back down to Fort Walton Beach yesterday and the gun was still there. However, upon close inspection it turned out to be a little rougher then I expected; some enshake, looked kind of beat up along one side of the yoke where barrel joins the frame, and a few rust spots. It was a 19-4 not a -3 as first told to me by the owner and no origional grips. It was a gun the was shot a lot but no holster wear in the usual places. I made an offer of $400 but he was firm at $425; decided to stick with my quest for the old N frames.

I wouldn't loose sleep over passing on that one. I bought my 80-85% 19-3, factory stocks, a couple of months back from a gun show dealer for $450 OTD. The same show had a rougher (cosmetically) 19-3 with square butt pacs for $425 and the guy would not come down at all. Both were good honest shooters but I did not hesitate to pay $25 more for better condition and factory stocks. Buy what you want but don't feed the frenzy....

Delta, it wasn't that guy with all the smiths at his table was it? I don't think I saw one there. I seem to remember one vaguely that I looked at but passed by. I saw a lot Model 15's and only two 29's.

I'm with ya on this one. That's a great deal and 20.00 says it's gone. If I was there it sure would be!
