Default Identify a 27-5

I'm new to this forum and have thoroughly enjoyed spending hours reading posts, much to my wife's dismay. She is a good woman though, because she wants enough guns in the house so we have one at each window.
I have a model 27-5, blued with a 4" barrel. Ser. # bhf3418 (from the left side of the butt, under the grip). I am a beginner at best and would like some info on this pistol. Thanks

Correction. The serial number came off the bottom of the handle.

Welcome to the Forum.
The M27 is one of the all-time great S&W revolvers. You'll enjoy that one.
The Catalog says it was born in 1991.
Show a picture if you can.

Default pic of 27

Thanks, I thought it was older than that. Guess i'll have to change to the 1980-present forum.
