Default help with j frame grips

I recently bought a couple j frames, one for me and one for her. I got a Model 60 no dash 38 special and a pre-lock LNIB 640, both with the short barrel( not 3"). They both have factory j frame RB grips which work good for her(the Queen) cuz she has small hands, but i'm 6'2" with fairly large hands. Wondering if a t grip adapter will give me a little more to grab without compromising concealment. I'd like to hear from other big handed dudes, what are you guys using on your j frames? Mike

Fortunately for you , you have round butt guns and there's no end to the variety of grips for RB J's.

Unfortunately for me , all 3 of my J-frames are square butt , and there's not a lot out there in the concealable or 'boot' grip design.

I do have a Hogue hardwood on my 3in 36 & 4in 63 Kit Gun , and a Pachmayr Compac on my 37.

The T grip would likely be a good choice. There are other good choices as well. The Hideout grips are good for what you are wanting. If you want to spend more Spegels are nice.

It seems like you always end up with a bunch of grips you tried that didn't work out before you find the one for you. You can always sell the also rans here on the forum.

I tried several but what works the best for me is crimson trace LG-105 laser grips. Fits well in my pocket and my hand. My former watch commander back in the day used a Tyler and it worked for him. If you don't mind resin check out BK grip adapters.

I just put a set of Crimson Trace LG 305's on a 36-1 (round butt) I recently acquired. Aside from the laser, which I really like, the grip itself fits my medium large hands very well.

I'm 6' 2" w/ big hands and use a variation of the T Grip (sold by a Forum member) w/the magna stocks. Not the best for the range but conceals very well.

Lots of square butt j-frames end up with a set of not-so-Compac Pachmayr grips by default, or S&W magna grips with a grip adapter. I bought a sq butt Chief recently & found out that Craig Spegel is the only one to offer a boot grip as a standard item. Unfortunately he seems to have a wait time of 3-6 months, & when I talked to him he didn't seem to eager to make a set for me or to give me a time frame to do so.
Badger Grips offers a 3-finger-sized combat grip for the square butt j, but when I talked to him Jim Badger was willing to make up a special set for me cut down to a 2-finger boot size. I ordered them on a saturday morning and had them in hand & on the gun the following wednesday evening! No extra charge either. I thought that was pretty darn good customer service and that's why I bought Badgers when I wanted a set of wood boots for my round butt Chief, even though there are cheaper options out there. His are $86 delivered BTW.

I wear an extra large glove and Pachmayr compact grips work for me. I did have to trim them a little for speedloaders.

here's a set of the modern altamont boot grips. they are a tad bigger than the factory ones, but still very concealable.

"4507CAMS" on this site has a bunch of grips & grip adapters listed for sale, including a set of Siles #711 grips for a j-frame for $25 (item #28). They're slightly longer than boot grip length, with a covered backstrap and a shape reminiscent of the old Fitz imitation stag "gunfighter" grips. A buddy has a set on his M37 & they're pretty comfortable, although with my small hands I prefer an open backstrap.

Here's my M-49 with skinny grips and T-Grip adapter. Works great in my large/average hands, and disappears in my pocket!
