There are still some deals out there....
There aren't any real gunstores within three hours of me - all of my local gun trolling is at pawn shops and trading posts near the Navajo indian reservation. The guns tend to be pretty utilitarian - Marlin Model 60s, 10/22s, Rough Rider handguns and the like. Every now and then something will slip through.
I couldn't believe it when I saw this super-clean little Model 36 on the shelf with a price tag of $279. To make things better, the owner has had a hard time getting people to pay on their layaways, and were offering a ten percent discount for layaways picked up within thirty days. So I laid it away, and picked it up a week later. The discount plus tax put me at just under $275 out the door.
I really don't need another Chief's Special, but this one is starting to grow on me.

Good catch and real good price. Look at a similar gun today, marked $399.

I saw a real enigma a week or 2 ago. An absolutely worn to hell, scuffed up, worn to the bone model 37 in a perfect box with all the papers and tools. And they wanted almost $400 for it. The guy was like "it even has the original box"...

They sure are! The much ballyhooed Hydra-shoks that should only be fired out of N-frame Smiths on February 29th or during a solar eclipse!

Very nice!
I recently found a pretty much as-new Model 37 (No dash) for $325, and was completely stoked. $275 out the door is outstanding!

There are still some deals out there. I picked up this model 36 no dash for $199.99 plus tax. She was wearing a Pachmayr Gripper when I found her. Now she is wearing more appropriate grips thanks to a generous member of the forum.
She has some honest wear. Used but not abused is my guess.
I picked up this 10-7 with original grips at the same shop six months earlier for $175 plus tax.
She was filthy inside and out and the cylinder release was clogged with gunk. There's a scrape on the barrel and cylinder that looks like someone slid her on concrete. She has a good home now.
Kind of makes up for the times I've paid more than I should have.

Blued J frames are just like lab puppies who can resist? I think all the plastic .380/9mm choices are making folks forget some real deals.

Sigp220.45, you're having better luck than I usually do. Most of the guns I see in the border towns like Gallup and Farmington are beat all to heck. Nice acquisition.

My good deal was today...
Put a 649-1 on lay-a-way today during lunch... $350! I paid $380 for a blue pinned 49 over a month ago. Seems there are good deals out there. You just have to keep hitting the bushes.
