Dear Sirs

Bought this S&W 14-3 serial number: 3K31674, at a Swedish gun auction today.

Does anybody know what year is was build?

It looks to have been shipped in 1972. The factory did not record build dates at that time, only when the gun was sold and left the factory.

How strict are the laws regarding buying handguns in Sweden?

Thank you. The laws regarding buying handguns in Sweden are strict.
  1. Join a local Gun Club
  2. Shoot 3 times 46 p at a distance of 25 meters (5 shoots)
  3. Shoot 3 times hitting only the black parts on the board at a distance of 25 meters under 15 sec (6 shoots)
  4. Have been a member in you local gun club for at least 6 months.
  5. Buy an by the government approved Gun Safe.
  6. Buy a gun.
  7. Apply for license at your local police station.
  8. Wait 4 weeks for the license to get approved.
  9. Collect your gun.

They have a 14-3 for sale here in Canada. I'm considering it, but .38 Special only. I'm so used to .357 Magnums.
