Default Advice needed on 19-4 find

I ran onto something unexpected today. I found a polished nickel 4 inch 19-4 with minimal turn lines, it can't have been fired more than a couple of dozen times, I'm guessing one cylinder. Rosewood factory grips, beautiful gun. I've wanted one for a while, here's my dilemma, is this a safe queen/BBQ gun or a shooter?

I primarily buy purpose guns/SD guns. I'm hoping one of other side of the house, the collectors can help me on this. Is this a gun that will appreciate substantially and am I crazy to consider shooting/carrying it? or is a 19-4 too late in the model to substantially appreciate, so I should just shoot it with no guilt?

Opinions appreciated......Thanks.

Reb: There are a lot of 4" inch 19s in this world -- granted the nickel ones get a premium, but still it's not like 19s will ever be rare (at least not in our lifetimes. They were a mass produced factory gun. So keeping it in a safe will mean maybe that when you sell it, you get an extra $100 or so based on the condition. And if you pass it to your wife or kids, they will either keep it or sell it for a little more than wholesale.

So, I would put some shooter grips on that gun and stick the good grips in the box -- then I'd go out and shoot it. They are good shooters.

Cordially, Ash

Have Executioner make you a set of grips for it, find a floral carved leather holster for it, take it to every BBQ you can, and SHOOT IT!

Thank you Gentlemen, I think I'll take your advice and shoot it some as well. I've wanted one for a while, but never expected to find one so pristine.

I shoot the snot out of mine...

And it still gets invited to the odd barbeque.

P.S. I have added a "pretty" set of new shoes since this picture was taken.

My 19-3 looks just like this fine example. It's a shooter.

Mod 19 or for that matter, most K-frames made since and after the 60, due to the great number of guns made, may never be a collectable in our life time. The nickle M-19 may cost a little more then the blued version, however, almost all K-frame guns are good shooters and should be used that way.
