the Air force 15's have seen one of three fates I suspect- crunched/demilled, put in storage, and at least some issued to police agencies under assistance programs.too bad they can't release them for civilian sale- could put at least a small dent in the national debt(along with the 1911's of course)

Yes sir they count. That's where the Model 15 got its sweet action. I believe that my -3 is the smoothest revolver that I own.

Thought I may as well through mine in. According to the previous owner, he put 12 rounds through it before I got it and it looked LNIB.

It's a sweetheart and super accurate...more than I am but, you'd best seat them primers deep as they'll drag on the recoil shield and cause binding.

My wonderful wife came up with this idea as a tribute to the Model 15 and my Air Force career...

We really need a better digial camera but you get the general idea.

She really is one of a kind..

Here's my 15-4 shooter. I work at a power plant, so find the TVA marking interesting. I'm not saying a thing about OUR security.

Great photo, nut notice the helmets. The PASGT kevlar helmets began issue in the early 80's.

Any idea of when this photo was taken?

Here's a 15-3 that I picked up recently. It now has correct grips on it. I guess I need a new photo.

I too have a M-15. Bought it for $300 and use it for shooting IDPA matches. Have a blast shooting it, often outshooting pistol shooters....

While it doesn't have the finish and NIB appearance of many shown here, I am very happy with it; accurate, smooth DA trigger, good fit. Just can't ask for a better revolver IMHO. My buddy bought a K frame after seeing how much fun the revolver was in IDPA & is having a hoot competing with it too!

My daughter shoots her M-10 in IDPA & while slow, is doing quite well for her experience. She much prefers it to the 9mm pistols, surprisingly. When I get the addional speedloaders and carriers, we'll both be shooting our K frames in IDPA

great thread!

Here's my 1977 15-3, perhaps one of the last 15-3s made. I don't know who made the furniture, I just had them laying around but when I put them on this snubby I thought they looked darn good.

My 15-3. Some nimrod filed down the original front sight, so I had my gunsmith machine the barrel for a pinned SDM fiber optic front and had him install a Weigand rear. It's one sweet shooter.

Can a 67 play? Here's mine; it's my old LAPD-issue that I bought at retirement for somewhere around $70.00. It wears it's original Pachmayr stocks I bought at the Pachmayr store in LA when I was going through the Academy. It's been back to the factory for a tune and beadblast. Also in the photos is my old Hoyt duty holster I carried it in.

The sweetest handgun I have ever owned was a Model 15 born around 1970. My LGS had two of them, UNFIRED, ten years ago. They came from an estate and were immaculate. I still hate the fact that I didn't have the money to buy them both at $300 each.

I had a fine gunsmith give the one I bought the loveliest trigger job I've ever encountered on a gun--everyone who tried it lusted for the piece. But when I became unable to get out as much anymore I gave it to my son, so he wouldn't have to wait till I croaked. He and his three boys enjoy shooting it every time they get the chance .

Sure miss that beauty, though...

Here's the last of three I've been fortunate enough to own. This one is one of two former Washington State Patrol revolvers I found at my LGS. I traded one of them for a Model 13-3. This one's a little beat up but it shows honest wear and was definately a "working gun". I'll be keeping this one.

Was wondering when a dash 5 HB would post,

Also interesting that nobody has posted a nickel 4" dash 2 or older with a blued FS ramp.

Found a five screw at a little local gun show last weekend in the 1953 serial range that was just too good a deal to pass up, perhaps its time for a new group shot of 15's and 18's.

My most recent acquisition, bought a couple of days ago: a 1980-vintage 2" Model 15-4 (S/N 85K2XXX) with its box and papers (but, see below).

It's a used gun which appears to have been handled more than fired. Interestingly, it has a .265" serrated service trigger, which according to the SCSW 3rd ed., is quite unusual for a 2-incher (I am positive the previous owners did not substitute any parts on this gun). The hammer is a .375" semi-target.

For some reason unknown to me, the box came with a Model 19 information leaflet. Since the leaflet's edition date agrees with the gun's vintage, I wonder if this could be the result of some mistake at the factory, or maybe gunshop. Has anybody ever seen some similar mismatching?

Cheers

Here's my Model 15-3. Born in '73, still a beauty.

Glad to see this thread I started gets renewed interest now and again..

My favorite out of my collection of 15's..a 1969 15-3 that has had a .312 forged combat trigger installed and a Wilson Combat spring kit.

This particular 15 is the go to gun of choice for my oldest daughter and youngest son when they visit. It has trained more new shooters than I care to think about it. Truly one of my best "Working" guns.

Everyone who shoots it comes away with new found respect for it's accuracy.

Even some of my die hard autoloader friends ask to shoot it when they come over....

We kept a lit light bulb in our lockers to keep the moisture down, and it prevented mildew from growing on our gear.
