smith & wesson J frame oil paper size ,and date of mfg.
I need to cut down a piece of S&W oil paper to put in the new model 38 I bought today, I know the piece is to large for the J frame box,it is the dark blue Bangor Punta box, if someone would measure the dimensions for me I would appreciate it, thanks Geraldo

Geraldo,
I measured a few papers- '67-'80- at 12" by 17 1/2". The weight varies greatly however.
Sorry, but I can't make sense of the serial number posted.
Good shooting.

it is a "floating J" from 1971-2. went to 999j-, so yours is probably from late 72.
