Model 19-2 Value vs. Model 67-1 ??

I have little knowledge of S&W so I would appreciate your input.

I have a chance to trade my 67-1 for a 19-2, 4" TT,TH,TS, blued. Both in the same slightly used condition. Fellow wants $125 difference for his 19-2. Good deal, bad deal, about right, run for the hills, or what ???

If the 19 has its original diamond targets do it.
If it has rubber grips they are about equal in value as originals will cost you $150.

I think it's a good deal no matter what kind of Smith mfg grips that it has on it,and a really good deal if they're diamonds.
I never shoot other than 38 specials,but I'd jump on that.I simply like blue over stainless,the target features,and the magnum lug.

I told him we would do the deal tomorrow. Thanks for the input. Neither revolver is pristine, but the action on the 19-2 is 100% smoother than my 67-1. And, I have larger hands so the 19-2 feels a little better to me. I'll be shooting .38 specials only so it will interesting to see if the extra weight of the 19-2 helps my accuracy over the 67-1.

Well around here a 357 magnum S&W revolver gets at least $100 more then a 38 special because they can shoot the much loved 357 magnum round and still shoot 38 special ammo. This is true no matter what set of grips is on them. Other then balance both sould feel the same in terms of grip if they have the same grips on them because they are both K frames. The only difference in the feel of the grips is if you used different types grips like on one had target grips and the other with magna grips. Or if one was round butt and the other a square butt.

In these here parts, a magnum will also draw another C-note or so. Some parts of the country are overrun with 67's, while in others they are scarce.

For simple shooting with .38's only, a good old 67 or it's blue twin, the 15, is hard to beat.

The action on either the 19 or the 67 can be tweaked to really nice.

Took my new/old 19-2 to the range for a first time shooting today. My plinking reloads were not that good so I'll have to work on that. Remington +P's gave me a 1" group at 15 yds shooting two hands supported. The revolver is not the problem...

The lady who sold it to me said it was her fathers and she does not remember him ever shooting it. She said he bought it from an officer in the NC highway patrol. There is a hint of holster wear at the muzzle but you have to look closely.

The smoother action and better grips than my old 67-1 were a nice plus when shooting. I think I might have to hold on to this one for a while. Thanks to everyone who told me it was a good trade...it was...

That seems to be a very very common reaction to the acquisition of a Model 19.

Yep, Iggy is correct. Very common reaction to a M19. It will not be the only M19 you have for long.

But, why would I really need a model 19 with a 6" barrel....

Who said anything about "need"? If not a 6", then a 2.5" will do, but you will probably have both and then......
