Arrow Front Sight Paint

I've got a Model 38 Bodyguard (1971 vintage) and I'd like to find some good paint/nail polish to color the front post. It seems I saw some sight paint on Brownells, but I can't recall its name.

I know there are several posts on this subject, but my iPhone isn't allowing me to search the forum.

Thanks guys!

I use testor's red airplane dope. I put it on a new 637 four years ago and it hasn't come off yet. This is my daily carry piece. HTH

I went to walmart and got some craft paint that could be used for metal and put three coats of white, after cleaning front sight with alcohol, and a coat of red on top. It's been on the gun for over six months with no problems. I don't remember the cost but I don't think it could have been over $3-$4. I applied the paint with a toothpick.

Try some stuff called 'Em-Nu'. It is for military guys who need to touch up their subdued insignias.

I put som eon th esight post on my S&W 638 last year, and carry that gun all the time...it's (the paint) still there.

I've been using Testers "Neon Red" over a base coat of flat white for 30 plus years and it works great.
You can buy it at a hobby shop or craft store.
If you get tired of it, acetone will take it right off without hurting the blue or nickel.

The best paint for sights that I have ever found is from Krylon. I buy it at Hobby Lobby craft stores. It is a paint pen. It comes in fluorescent orange (my favorite) and fluorescent green. It lasts a long, long time on my revolvers but can be easily removed with fingernail polish remover and a toothbrush. The actual name on the package is "Krylon Brights". I had tried all kinds and colors of fingernail polish for years until I found this product. The fluorescent orange catches your eye really quickly when shooting in IDPA.

The product you're talking about is called Bright Sights. I suspect Testor's would work just as well. What I have found is that paint really doesn't stick well to smooth sights even if you take care to remove all the grease and oil first.

I've used nail polish for years now with very good luck. Clean sight with IPA, apply two thin coats of a base white, let DRY, then apply lite coats of the color you want, remember to let EACH coat DRY before applying another coat.

Some folks will add a finish coat of clear polish, but I've never felt the need to do so.

Take it 1 step further! Glow Inc. has ultra green sight paint. During the day it is bright green. Once properly light activated, it will glow for up to 24 hours. I have never used this product, but it could be used for night or low light aplications. Oh by the way, model paint works fine for me. I'd be lost without it. Bob

Default Sight paint

Here is a picture of the Krylon paint. It works well on non-serrated sights and smooth surfaces.

I usually use White Out correction fluid. Easy to put on, easy to get back off if needed and easy to touch up when needed

Been using the same for about 5 years but use the yellow and green.

Superman

I bought some of the Krylon fluorescent green and tried it on one of my model 64s. It shows up pretty well, but being from Tennessee, I'll have to stick with the "Big Orange"!
