This is a nickle plated .38 Special that I am in discussion with about purchasing. I took some pictures but some of them did not come out. I would like to see if someone with more knowledge than myself could help with identification and possibly a value to begin our talks. Thanks for help received in advance

I'll do some looking. Out of my league, but 1953'ish birth year.

Should be a 10, 11, 12, 45, Aircrewman or pre-model variation (which I think yours is.)

It appears to be a Pre-Model 10 from the early 1950s with a shortened barrel. It most likely had a 4 inch barrel that has been trimmed.

It's a refinished Military and Police revolver from the early 1950's. The barrel has been cut back and a new ramp front sight has been attached. It still has the under barrel lug, so it may be a decent shooter. The finish doesn't look too bad, so I might go up to $150.

The grips look like they're for an N frame, but I can't tell what they're made of from the photos. If they're plastic they're not worth much (touch a red hot needle to the back and sniff). They don't look like ivory, but they're worth a lot more than the gun if they are.
