Price of a shooter grade S&W 57?
I found a shooter grade 4" barrel, blue steel, TH, TT, RR, WO, missing the original stocks, cylinder rocks a bit on each chamber. It has a considerable amount of blue wear, maybe 65%-70% original finish left. Asking price is $475.00, which I feel is high, though I have not seen a 57 for sale in several years.

This is just my opinion, but in OUR area, finding a N frame for less than $500 in shootable condition, is very difficult. From your description, the gun will, like it or not, probably sell for the price you stated. I think it is high, but I have not found one any better for less. The problem I see if the price of .41 mag ammo. Unless you reload, ammo can be expensive.

No dash? If so and a 4" barrel, it would be pretty near the top of what I'd pay for one in the described condition. But JCS&W is right, someone will come along and buy it for that... my guess is fairly quickly. It really comes down to whether or not you want to wait for a nicer one to come along, and probably pay at least a $100 more. Is this going to be a hunting gun, or just something to take to the range occasionally and sit in the safe?

I like the cartridge, and 4" N frames. It is a bit uglier than I prefer.
Thanks for the replies.

I would grab it, can't find one around here (SE PA) under $600.
