Question Need help with the production date of a Model 10-5

Recently purchased a Model 10-5 at a local store/range. I'm really loving it so far but I'm curious about what year it was made in. I've got a general range of 60's to 70's but wanted to get more specific. The serial # on the butt reads "D7294XX" if I need to post more information about it I can. Here's a few pictures of it and thank you in advance!

Your serial number falls in the range for 1967. To get any closer you would need to pay for a letter from SW.

I think that serial number would be closer to 1975. S&W began the D serial prefix in 1968 at D1. They reached D999999 in 1977 and began again at 1D1. There is no way that number would be from 1967.

Follow Up: Nailed that one! My Standard Catalog of S&W (SCSW for short) confirms that serial number as 1975. There is no need to pay for a factory letter to get a ship date, especially on a model as popular as the model 10. Buy a copy of SCSW instead. It has all the serial number data you need.
