Hi All, I've searched around but haven't found an answer. How can I find the date of mfg for this Model 15 I have just acquired?

Thanks!

If you provide the serial number (on the butt of the frame), someone can look up the date.

Hope this helps.

I thought that this was going to be a thread about dating 15 year old models and thought, "Damn! That dude could go to jail."

I sent an email to S&W and they sent me the year of manufacture of all of my S&W guns. No other details but I don't need to know that one was sent to Steve's Hardware in East Awfulgosh, WI.

1977...

The Standard Catalog of Smith and Wesson states that 1977 was the year for serial numbers 10K0001 - 24K9999.

Additionally, yours should be a 15-4, as the dash 4s were introduced in 1977, according to the above reference work.

Hope that helps...
