Model 19, buy it or pass it by?
My local gun pusher's shop showed me a Model 19 for sale today. I forgot to check the dash number but the gun was a round butt, 2 1/2" barrel, good lockup/timing, pinned & recessed, 95% blue with some minor storage flecks. Recoil shield, flame cut, etc shows gun was little used. $400 will get it out the door. Is that a good price, fair price or walk away? Thanks

Pics? Sounds like a decent price to me. Was it a P&R gun?

A very good price in today's short barreled revolver market. If pinned/recessed it will be either a 19-2, 3 or 4; all the factory 2.5" guns were RB. Photos!

MY LGS would ask, and probably get, $550.00 for one in what I think is the condition you describe.

Was it out on the shelf, or hiding in the back and he got it to show you? If it was out it'll probably be gone when you go back to get it.

Had the same decision to make this last week. A pawn shop had a nearly mint model 19-2 2 and a half inch on Wednesday for $400.00 and I asked them if they would take $375.00 It rode home with me! The only issue with the blueing was the side plate. Very minor freckles on it. The rest looks as if it just came from the factory. You should buy that gun!!!

I too will agree with the others and say that is a killer price. I did read that you mentioned "flame cut" in you description. That to me would be the deciding factor. Just how bad is it?
Good luck with your negotiation when you go back!!

The gun is a dash-4, 1980 production and the shop would not come off the asking price.

Nice looking 19! I think you did well. The last one I saw in a shop was a 19-5 in 95%+ condition for 599 plus tax. It went home with someone else.....

That's a $500-$600 gun around here and I could get that at a gun show in a few minutes of walking around with it... You did great!

I'm not a big fan of the short barrel guns, but I'd have snapped that one up too.
Congratulations!

I just sold mine off because I'm just not crazy about the K-frame short barrel guns, but if I ran across another one in that condition at that price I would probably grab it.
