Default mis marked model 25's

over the last few years I've seen the numbers reported as "around 3000", or "about 1500",
or "somewhere in the 1000 to 1500 range".
Just now I saw a copy of another letter this one more recent and saying there were 1000 such
units allowed to escape with the mis marked barrel.

I know the point is all this is really.......well pointless, but I also know several members here
have a mis marked M25 and this kinda stuff is of interest to them, and several of us have discussed
this issue in the past.

I do think they only people who assign an increased value to one of the mismarked guns are
those who have them for sale. I have one and I bought it not even knowing such a thing existed.

If a guy was to search for this string of numbers 303902628 he probably could
the letter and see it for himself.

I have one, serial number N 338239.
I consider it a curiosity, but not worth a premium over a similar condition revolver with a properly marked barrel.
My letter from Mr. Jinks at S&W states that 1,000 were stamped this way in September, 1976. Mine shipped in October, 1976.

I sold a mis-marked M-25-2. It didn't seem to raise any more interest than the correctly marked models.
