Revolvers and Herrett's Stocks
Like most forum members, I've played with various custom stocks on my revolvers...both Colt and Smith. The factory stocks, though handsome and collectible, leave much to be desired. Through the years, I've bought several sets of Herrett's stocks. I've found the Ropers, Troopers and Shooting Stars, made in the custom shop, to be excellent. Here's what I've settled on for my favorite shooters, both Colt and S&W. The 27s are both -2 versions and wear custom Shooting Stars (6") and Skelton-style Ropers (5"). The Python wears Shooting Stars, built and checkered in the custom shop.
Bob
Troopers on a Colt Officer's Model Target and a 17-3 K22. The Colt Troopers have a left-handed thumbrest...very comfortable.
Thumbrest on the Troopers that are on my post-war OMT.
Colt stainless Python, wearing custom-shop Shooting Stars, and my post-war OMT, with thumbrest Troopers.
Troopers on a 6" 15 (top) and Ropers on a 6" 68 LAPD .38
Custom, uncheckered Shooting Stars on my rebuilt 27-2...exceptionally comfortable with full loads.
One of my favorite combos...27-2 5", with a set of fancy walnut Ropers. These are the ones that Skeeter redesigned for Herrett's, making them a little slimmer than the original Ropers. An unbeatable combo with the 27-2.

You have some nice pairs of Herretts. Here is a pair of Trooper stocks on a Model 629.

^^^ Ditto. I put a pair on my 10-5 and I like them much better than the slim magna grips.

Those are beautiful Herretts on your revolvers.
I am partial to the Jordan Trooper Stocks myself.

Good stuff, Herrett's are among my favorites, too. Here's an interesting Herrett's N-frame target grip I recently picked up. For one thing, it's massive and the buyer must have sprung for every available upgrade option when he ordered it- it's rosewood with a fancy pattern and skip checked. Whoever had this made must have had paws like a bear and spared no expense to get what he wanted.
Here it is dwarfing a Trooper, a large grip in its own right (both are for N-frames):

I've settled on Herrett's for my hunting handguns.
I modified a pair they did for me (read that rasped and sanded to fit better), sent it to them and they successfully reproduced three more sets.
Here's Trooper's (far right) and Shooting Master's:

I recently got these Troopers for my 5" Model 27-2, and find them to be superb for the task at hand. I would add that the folks at Herrett's are very easy to work with and won't quit until your'e satisfied.

Nice, Jerry! I've had several sets of the Jordan Troopers, but someone always seems to want them when they see them. Gotta get another set for a 66 that's laying around...

I bought these in 1979. They're "stock" Shooting Masters that I modified to fit my hand.

Just found these old Herrett Custom Shop Shooting Stars for my 1961 Official Police. Fit like a glove.

I've snagged a few sets of Herrett's over the years. Most are on Ruger SA's, and Colt's along with two S&W's.
Right hand target's on a 1954 Colt Official Police .22 LR.
Shooting Stars on my long barrel Single-Six

Some would say these Sile grips on my Mod.58 (bottom) are a knock-off of Herrett's.
But they feel really good in my hand and are fairly inexpensive when found. I have them in J , K and N frame.

I picked these up from a gun store junk box for $10. I believe they are Herrett's.
The Herrett's that CDNN sells for N-Frames, while not of a preferred wood, fit my mit wonderfully so have become my standard swap on my pieces.
