Bargain 14-4
Bought a 14-4 today in my favorite local shop. Serial dates to 1980. Condition at least 95%. 1989 dated factory combats are on it. Those will get sold. They don't fit my and very well. Price was $425. I am giddy about his one. Have always regretted selling one many years ago. Now things are right with my revolver karma. I will shoot pics tomorrow and post.

That's a terrific buy on that revolver and heck the grips alone are worth $100 to $150 depending on color, grain, and condition.

I've made a couple of deals like that in the past where the sale of incorrect but valuable grips substantially reduced my total investment in a gun. You'll probably have $300 or less in your 14-4 after you sell the combats, turns a good deal into a great one!

I think $300 is about what it will end up when I sell the combats. I like the look of the combat grips, always have thought they were good, if they fit your fingers. They are cramped for me. I will probably put on some Herretts, retro target grips.

Very nice indeed! Love the trigger stop still in place.
Even better deal if it came with the $100+ grips pictured.

It sure did come with those. Not for my hand though. I like the wide target trigger and hammer on this gun. Feels right. Can't remember if my 14 from years back had that.

The grips alone range $100.+ , so you did real good on that one.

I would say you got a steal, especially if you consider what a new revolver of that quality would cost. I think a used model 14 is a great revolver and for the price you paid for it an even better one.

There is something about a K38 variant that just tickles me. You stole this one.

Excellent purchase. I love my 14-3 with the target trigger and hammer. I like the Ahrends retro combat, but I have smallish hands.

I have some cocobolo Ahrends retro targets on the way. Should be perfect for this 38.
