Default Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I have a model 38 airweight .38 special. It is blued with a wooden diamond grip. The hammer is exposed but it is humpbacked with a contoured cylinder release. 5 shot. SN# ANR8583.
Looking for the year it left the factory and some ideas on its worth. My Mom is 60 and the trigger pull is too much for her. Wouldn't mind suggestions for a light purse gun with ease of use. She's been around guns for years but her arthritis is making it difficult for her to use this particular revolver. Thank you

Welcome! This model is named the Airweight Bodyguard. It probably shipped in 1986, but the published information on SNs from this time has holes in it. If it is in nice condition, it is probably about a $400 gun.

With your mom's situation she may be able to pull the hammer back with each round, otherwise you may want to consider a smaller semi-automatic gun with a shorter/lighter trigger pull. Many models on the market, so a trip to the local gun store (or range that rents different guns for use) would help narrow down the choices. How nice of you to keep her well-armed!

Hope this is helpful.
