Model 36-1, DATES
Just picked this Model 36-1 up off of GB.
Don't have it in hand yet. It was advertised used/LNIB from description, all paperwork/cleaning rod and brush... From the pics and seller feedback, I fully expect to be happy with it.
Got a question - Any body up on dates of MFG for this model?

What'd ya have to give for it? I bought a 36-1 with box & some "etc" about a month ago- only gave $350 for it but it was definitely not LNIB!

IIRC all -1's were 3 inch guns. This was one time where the -# indicated a feature versus an engineering change.

Picked this one up for $441. All steel - pinned barrel, were big pluses for me. I feel really good about the price considering what the new MIM/lock versions are going for. Another plus on this one; I have a set of ivories that should fit it.
This one was supposed to have come from a collection of new/like new vintage S&Ws.

OK- Here we go
FreddieBear1 A+(3434), sold the Model 36-1 that I bought on Gun Broker... Perfectly described - highly recommend this vendor. This is a vintage S&W (1977-1978, LINB). The action is more like a K frame rather than my newer J Frames. Very smooth... (LNIB) and it was... I have always preferred the Model 60 over the Model 36. After inspecting this one, there is no comparison over the two models. The Model 36-1 Heavy Barrel is by far the best S&W I have ever shot (except My New Model No3).
Great Little Guns - Worth evry penny...

I like the vintage pinned-barrel models better also. Three of my five j-frames are pinned-barrel 36's & one is a pinned 60. The lone exception is a 2006 442-2-- with lock no less!
