Thanks for sharing, must say there is something about the Victory model, maybe it's the finish and wood grips, but I really like the looks of that one.
You've only got 4, what would you like to find next?

Sharp looking Victory. I like the finish.
If I may be so bold, what happened to the 686 barrel?
And I take it you like Pachmayr's

I just picked up the 686 today and for some reason the previous owner put tape on the barrel and when it was removed, the goop stayed behind but with a good cleaning, it should look like new! As to the Pachmayr's, All of them have came with those grips.

Yeah the Victory is just awesome. After I picked it up, I took it in to the gun store to see what they thought and the look on the guys' faces was just priceless. They think It was shot less than 20 times. They stated its in immaculate condition. I almost thought it had been refinished but they said everything on it is original and authentic. When I told them how much I paid for it they were even more amazed. ($300)

I was hoping it was some sort of grime on there and not surface damage.
I personally cannot stand rubber on my guns and got wood grips for all of the ones that didn't come with it.

I'm with ya on that one! I got a pair of sanbar stag grips for my model 60 and will be getting some wood grips for the rest in the near future!

You qualify for being addicted to revolvers! There is a 12 step program, but no one has ever been sucessful.

I had stag for a short time on my 640 Pro but the recoil was a bit excessive with that backstrap exposed.
I went with a set of talo wood off my old 638.
It's a nice set you have there.
Any plans to add to it?

Yes. Not too sure whats next though. I kind of just go with what I see and if I like it I pick it up. I've done my research though as to which ones are the most collectible so those are the ones I keep an eye out for.

That is a good strategy, I tend to do the same.
Leaning towards good .357's has worked well for me so far.

Nice collection. I prefer wood stocks as well, but to each their own. I bet that after a little cleaning that they will be knock-down gorgeous. Well done.

Well, you have good instincts and a very nice group of revolvers. Quality over quantity - always.
Assuming that V is the real McCoy, I would use the stainless for the brunt of the range work if it were mine.
Thank you for sharing.
Regards,
A.

That V is going to stay in the safe along with the Boyt 43 holster I got for $30. All the other ones will be used at the range.

Great start to a collection. The victory is Aces! Great shooters all of them.
Now what are your next 4?

Next purchase ... .38 Special by the case, and some quality leather.
Excellent quartet thus far. The 60 is a classic steel carry snub; the 65 makes for a great trail gun due to the 3" barrel and low profile fixed sights; the 686 is the big range master; the Victory is simply a beautiful revolver from the past.
If you never got another (which is an impossibility) you'd have all the practical bases covered.

Very nice start to your S&W collection. I really like the Victory Model. Need one of those for myself.
As for the 12 step program, it seems to work this way: buy 12 S&W's, then buy 12 more S&W's, then. Well, you get the picture

Mr. Collectr very nice collection so far, but it is missing a N frame model. Add a N frame to round out the collection. I would suggest trying to find a nice shooter grade M27, the flagship of the S&W line, or a shooter grade M28, highway patrolman. Just my opinion, but you will like the N frame model.

Oh, yes. I think everyone should experience a 27. They are such works of art with their high polish finishes and checkered top straps.Top of the line!

I used to have a 60 with those grips. It was my most carried gun. I used it as a backup to my 1911, or just took it out by itself in warm weather. It shot considerably better with those rubber grips than with the original magnas, though I think the magnas look a whole lot better.

I read this as 2 pocket guns and 2 night stand guns. For what more can a man ask? Welcome to RA. You can do this. I am 26 years 3 months, 17 days, 7 hours and 51 minutes of continuous revolver ownership.

I'm a big fan of stainless .357's. I like your style. It seems your already heading in the same basic direction, but my suggestion would be a 627. Not only an N-frame, and it keeps with the stainless .357 theme.
I keep telling myself that a M65 in 3" is going to be my next purchase, but they are hard to find in these parts and everytime I check online I don't like the prices. Patience is key.

Had an all Smith range day!
Decided that I'd go out and dirty up my Smith's today and thought this would be an appropriate venue to place a pic.
From Top to Bottom:
6 " K-22 (Circa 1950)
2"-ish Model 36 (Early 70's)
2.5" Model 19-3 (Early 70's)
4" 686-3 (1991)
CS9 (late 90's early 2000's)
6.5" Model 29-2 (1974-ish)

I have already made a comment, but in my personal opinion, no collection of fine S&W revolvers is complete without a M27. I know there are those who will disagree, but this is just my opinion. Seems like I am pushing a M27, but no, I do not have one for sale. The M27 is the flagship of the S&W line and you need one, or two. If not the M27, the M28 HP. Great N frame Smiths.

I really appreciate your advice. Being new to the collecting deal, research can be helpful but first hand experience is what matters and seems like you know your smiths so I will take your opinion very serious and start looking. Never hurts to have a M27.

Yours look darn nice. While I have had a few Smiths over the years, I am a new convert from the Colt ages . I do have some nice nickel Smiths in 15, and 27, and 29. I should not have sold an excellent blued 60's 19, but I was a Colt tear then.

Very nice and not unlike my growing Smith group. As they said they multiply. I too like the nickel revolvers.
