I posted a couple of weeks ago about my latest acqusition, a 4" Model 29-2 that had languished in a pawn shop for over three years before they droppped the price into the "reasonable" category. It had Hogue rubber grips, more than a little finish wear, definately in the shooter category.

Since my last post, I've put over three hundred rounds through it, mostly cast lead hand loads, 240 grain home cast bullets at 850 feet per second, and some 240 grain jacketed bullets at 1250 FPS. It is a great shooter, very accurate and fun to shoot. I've also been carrying it as my defensive handgun, and doing some hiking with it. I definately feel well armed....

I found some N frame service grips and a vintage Safariland holster for it, and a "No Gunsmithing" lanyard ring, it slips over the grip pin on the frame and is sandwiched between the grips and frame. I like a lanyard on my handguns while hiking and canoeing, as I'm obsesssvie about dropping a revolver in the water while canoeing or losing one while hiking.

This will be my carry gun at least for the Winter, if I can find an Inside The Waistband holster before Summer, I might carry it then.

N Frame magnas for $36? You must be living right.

I have four of those holsters in different barrel lengths they are still my favorite after 40 yrs.

You got a good price on the service grips. I think they really look better on any 4" or shorter barrel revolver. To my eye the oversize target grips look out of Proportion on shorted barrel lengths.

Where did you find the Safariland...? I'm always looking, and posting, for that exact model.

I have bought 7 or 8 Safariland holsters from the popular auction site, just put Safariland N Frame, or whatever size you need and see what pops up. There are several on there now. I like to shop on the forum as well, but sometimes, if you really need or want a particular item, you give it a week or so and then branch out. Generally, if I Google what I want, and anybody anywhere has what I am looking for, it pops up.

Found the grips and the Safariland holster on Ebay, took about two weeks to round them up at a price I could afford.

All you need now is a Tyler T grip.

Diving for guns is not fun, glad I only had to do once

No shame in those grips. N frames look dead sexy in magnas. And damn if you didn't find the holster, color and condition, I've been looking for for years. My perennial WTB. ; ) Nice carry setup -- classic setup. Throw in a couple of HSK speedloaders with Federal Hi Shoks and you're good to go.

Jealous of your $36 magna score, every auction I watched went full retard.

I finally ordered a set of repro smooth rosewood magnas. Shipped yesterday, should have pics before the weekend.
