3 inch Model 10
Today, I ran across a Model 10-7 with a square butt and a 3 inch barrel. I know about 2, 4, 5, 6 inch barrels but I'm not familiar with the 3 inch version. Did I run across something odd? It was not what I would call a steal for a Model 10 but, not too high priced, either. I didn't get it. Should I go back?

Was it a heavy barrel or taper?
A bunch of taper barrel guns came back from Australia not all to long ago.
I think the heavy barrel is harder to find. Neither one is overly common.

I bought one of the Australian bring-backs. It has a heavy three inch barrel and a square butt. Nice balance. Too bad my daughter liked it so much she kept it. I knew I should have bought two!! I paid $299 + shipping + FFL, etc. So I'm out $375 total. Small price to keep the daughter happy!!

Mechanically, it was good as new. It had some holster wear and some freckles.

My 3 " model 10-5 is my favorite smith and Wesson. I just added CT LG for it to help my 60+ year old eyes

I bought one of the Aussie 3" and it is a very nice gun, good balance. That is about as short a barrel as I would like on a revolver. Buds was selling the Aussie guns for $270 including shipping. They sold like hotcakes.

I think that's a pretty good price. If I saw a rare Model 10 variant in my LGS priced at less than $400 out the door, I'd jump on it in a New York second...

Aloha,
I'd have bought it.
I like 3" M-10.
I love the 3" M-65 LadySmiths, if I can find another one.
