Merry Christmas to me-Model 17-3 Pictures
Merry Christmas to me-Model 17-3, serial number 8K29xxx. maybe 1975? 8 3/8 barrel, 6 shot, 22lr.
inside of grips one says 7197 the other 7198. guess they are not original to the gun.
what can anyone tell me about this gun? Thanks Santa.

Your gun was shipped in 1975. Those numbers are part numbers. If you grips were number they would be press stamped in the wood 29XXX. Yours may not have gotten stamped, no big deal.

I can tell you that I have it's twin sister and it's my favorite revolver. With the 8 3/8 tube it's very well balanced. You will love it.

the numbers of the inside of the grips are ink stamped, not hand written, but not pressed into the wood either.
So are these grips the correct grips for the era even if not original?
thanks.

Correct, ink stamped would be part numbers. So your grips are correct for your gun.
