Default Model 19-3 2 & 1/2 - My Father's Gun!

Guys,

Had to share. My father passed away many years ago and I thought his pistol had been lost. My Mother found the gun a few weeks ago wrapped it for me as special Christmas gift. I can not tell you how happy this has made me. My Dad carried this gun for a few years as a fireman before he retired in 1977. The gun is near perfect but I do not knw the birth date of this baby. Serial # is 1K52550. Hoping someone here can help me learn a little more about this gun.

Thanks in Advance!

To me, the M19 snubby looks like a snubby should. Great Smith, but an even better story. Glad it was found.

That was nice of your Mom and glad that the gun was found. I've had my 19-3 2 1/2" since 1976. One of my first S&W's, and one I will eventually pass along someday. Great connection to your Dad. He apparently knew a good S&W when he saw one. It is one of the best.

Default thanks guys

Thanks Brick for the birth date. Thought it was about that time but nice to know for sure. Vice, you are right about the story. I know it sounds funny but I thought about this gun often, usually when I thought of my Father, and it is a real treasure for me now.

What a fantastic story! I wish my father had passed a gun down to me. He didn't have one, unfortunately, to pass down. I would have been happy if he passed down his brand new '65 Mustang, though. I've always loved the way the 19 snubs look. Beautiful gun!

An inherited revolver is the best kind! Congratulations! The fact that it is such a nice little 19 is a huge bonus. treasure it while you are shooting it.

What a good Christmas present, and a fine snub nose revolver. Welcome.
That's a great story.
