Default Trying to find any information on a model 51 .22

I inherited a S&W .22 M.R.F CTG from my grandfather. It has never been fired. I don't have the box or anything that it came with, just the gun.

I tried researching it and couldn't find what I was looking for.
It is a model 51. 3 1/2" barrel. I took the grips off and there is a J and the#26680 and on the butt is # M45405.

Trying to figure out what year it was made and anything else that's interesting about the gun.

Am I correct that M.R.F means magnum rim fire? If so does that mean it cannot fire .22 caliber LR?

Any information would be helpful. Thanks

It is a .22 magnum rimfire anf will not shoot .22 LR. It was manufactured between 1971 and 1973.

Thanks, which number do you use to determine the year?
