Could this be made a sticky?

Thanks.

BTW: Newbies should be aware that CTG is NOT the name or part of the name of any Smith & Wesson firearm.

For an interesting explanation of why this is NOT going to be a sticky, see

And I figured CTG stood for something like Childs Toy Gun

As the "newbie" that was likely reponsible for getting this thread started, a table of acronyms may be helpful as a sticky. I would agree a good majority of newbies don't look at them and just post something they want to know right away without checking the FAQ/Stickies or doing a search. I suspect this can be frustrating at times for those that have been around a while as they see countless "new" threads that aren't really new at all...just the same mindless caarap over and over.

This newbie does look at the stickies however! Not a comprehensive look but at least a glance through. To add a some perspective, I hadn't seen the the gun with "CTG" on it, it was read to me over the phone. I did a search for CTG and no hits...probably due to a 4-letter minimum.

At any rate, I believe a list of common acronyms would be helpful to at least a few that read the stickies and would therefore be my vote.

First, welcome to the forum! Believe me, you are not responsible for this thread. Those of us that spend a fair amount of time here see threads several times a day usually where the poster thinks that CTG is the model of the gun. It gets a bit redundant for those that have to explain it over and over. At the same time, the regulars here balance that with the fact that we understand that not everybody has the same interest or experience with the revolvers that we are so fond of, and new people will not understand all the terminology, so we explain it over and over again. You'll find that this is the most inclusive, welcoming, and knowledgeable firearms forum on the web with some absolutely fantastic people that give freely of their often greatly detailed knowledge. It's a great place to hang out and learn. Believe me, I learn much every day! Smith and Wesson has a long and interesting history with many models, and here we want to share our enthusiasm with new people and welcome them into the circle. Occasionally, we get a little crabby, but not often!

It just seems like at least once a week someone says they got a new .22 or .38 S&W Special CTG , like that's the model.

Gee, I just thought it meant "contigo" , something that Marcus Registradas said. "With you" like, EDC.

CTG was never an issue on this forum 'til a short while back and couple new people asked about it a time or two and WE made a big deal and joked about it. Now if new members do a search or Googles CTG they think it may be a model or something significant because there are 100s of post on it now. I think we created that.

Could we make it a sub-forum under S&W Hand Ejectors: 1896 to 1961 ?
