Smile Mr. Perks' Special 44 Magnum

Model 29-2 with class C-engraving and most likely a "one of a kind" 7 1/2-inch barrel and shipped (carried in personal luggage as the invoice shows...below) in October 1966. The revolver still has its mint clamshell case, accessories, paperwork, and shipping carton. It was returned from England before being destroyed as part of the ban on handguns. Mr. Perks was the President of Springfield Firearms, S&W's major representative in England, and had many special guns made for him. If you want to see a photo of the engraved, two-tone Model 53, look on page 218 of the Standard Catalog of S&W, Third Edition.

Bill

The document heading states: "The Thoroughbred of the Handgun World".

And that is true of most S & W revolvers.

Thank you for showing us that, truly a beautiful and unique handgun.

Thank God it was saved from a stupid British government.

If there was any real justice, politicians who pull stuff like the destruction of such firearms should be tried for crimes against the people.

Though they strain against it mightily, that pesky old thing we have that is unique to the USA, that old "Constitution" is the only thing stopping it here so far. As soon as the powers-that-be stack the courts with their stooges who will march in lock-step and ignore the Founder's intent we will follow the same path, I fear.

Destroying a gun like that from the hands of a private, law-abiding citizen who has committed no crime other than owning it is an abomination and an affront to common sense.

England disarmed its citizens...er, subjects in the 1930s. The politicians told the people they didn't need all those evil guns.

Then this guy named Hitler threatened to overrun the country in 1940 and they begged for arms to defend themselves. They bought any gun any manufacturer would sell them including 108 brand new Colt Single Action Army revolvers that were in inventory. Maybe the very last of the 1st Generation SAAs. They also begged Americans to donate sporting arms to help defend England against Nazi invasion.

The Colts were never taken out of their boxes and were destroyed once the war and the threat was over. All those guns donated by Americans were also destroyed with no thought of returning them.

Some people are just too stupid to learn apparently.

I'm glad this 29 wasn't melted by the geniuses in England. Hope it never falls into the hands of the geniuses in DC.
