was this a fair trade?
I was at a gun show last month with my 629-1 8 3/8", not pinned or recessed, no box or papers with two sets of hogue combat grips one wood and one rubber + $150. I traded it all for a 29-2 8 3/8"with the smooth factory grips with box and papers but no tools. The bluing is 95% on the 29-2 and overall the condition is a little nicer than the 629-1. Do you guys think that this was a good trade? My buddy thinks I got robbed but my brother thinks that I robbed the guy with this trade. What do you guys think? I thought it was pretty fair.

Sounds OK to me.
If you and the other guy are both happy with the trade then I'd say it was a very good one.

By "box" do you mean the blue cardboard box or a wood presentation box?

There's value and then there's what you value. I would prefer the older model assuming they both function properly. That's purely a personal preference based on intangible and perceived qualities, a sense of history, etc. If that's how you feel you got a good deal. I would be happy if I had made that trade.

I would feel like I got the better end of that deal, but alas I'm more old school P&R.

Anytime you can trade something that you don't want anymore for something you want, is a good deal.

I hate those long barrels, but I like your trade. Enjoy that 29.

I would say nobody got robbed but you got the better end of the deal. I have both and still prefer the blued guns.
