Default Gun show and controlling the 29 addiction.

Well, well a gun show. I can walk thru and be in complete control of the former S&W addiction. I am in control. OTD for me and off to the show, just looking, no buying. After all I have two 629's, a 4" and a 6.5". Hmm, maybe I'd better take a few guns just in case any addicts are buying.

The show is the busiest I've ever seen it. Oh the addicts are in fine form, buzzing in they say, hey former addict whats in the boxes? Ok done deal. Gee that was easy selling to those addicts.

I have $money$ in my jeans, don't see anything I want, for a while anyway. Excuse me Sir, is that a 29-2? P&R with TT, TH & TS? Oh it comes with a wood presentation case? That is nice. But I don't need another N Frame S&W in 44 Mag, thank you sir.

Oh, you'll knock a hundred off? Wow, but I really don't need another. Why haven't I handed it back to you? Good question. Have you tried prying it out of my hands? Or asking for the cash?

I did not succumb to the former addiction. I'm so proud of me. I did however pay adoption fees and the 1978 29-2 was sent home with me. I'm so glad I was able to resist purchasing one. Adoption is so noble, I think I need to adopt a 27-2 blue with a nice short bbl.

I'll try to get photos in the next few days.

People who suffer from an addictive personality spend excessive time on a behavior or with an item, not as a hobby but because they feel like they have to.

I too have this problem, I belong to SRA ( Smithitis Revolverus Anonymous ) it is a terrible disease with no cure , Just remember you not alone.

You showed REMARKABLE restraint! You can proudly display your 100 days "clean" chip because that adoption certainly doesn't count as a slip! Congrats on haggling down that pesky adoption fee too!

Pictures, pictures, we always need pictures. They are like a hit for the addiction. If I can't buy one at least I can look at one.
Congrats on the adoption.

Must have been something in the air yesterday. I also adopted a 29-2
yesterday. She was just sitting there looking like she wished she had
a good home. What's a man to do?

You showed remarkable restraint by merely adopting that orphan. I, however, outright bought another 29-2 last weekend, making two this month. I know I can quit anytime though, so no N frame addiction here. Nope, no sirree, I can quit any time...

Don't beat yourself up. I too have had and to some extent, still have the 29 addiction. The majority of the guns pictured, about 90%, are all 29s of one model/variation or another. A few have been sold/traded off but are still being replaced by yet others. It took me close to 40 years to figure out I am just a caretaker of the guns in my collection and that some day sooner than later, they'll be giving some other collector that dose of adrenalin that for some, only comes from hunting down and acquiring one of the finest collectibles around, the S&W .44 Magnum. Happy Hunting!

Chuck that is impressive to say the least.
I've got a couple of those gun racks like yours. I call them recliners for my guns.

I remember the "Fanner Fifty" and it must've had a big influence on me. My first real handgun was a 4 5/8" Ruger single six pinto with polished alloy frame, blue barrel and cylinder.

I knew it,Chuck. Whem I told you some years ago about the number of 1950 Targets I had you said "That's nice". Had I known you had a closet full of .44Mag I wouldn't have said a thing.
i feel very small...

Reminds me of the time I won a blue 1956 box and contacted a member here to see if he wanted it. He said no it had the wrong latch, one of the latches was skewed and he had 50 with guns in them already....smaller still......
>> OP, sorry to semi-jack your thread <<

Early in life I had several 29's a 6" and a 6 1/2" in nickle and recently a 6" no dash LNIB 629 in the box which I sold after finding a 4" 629. Now I have a better understanding. One photograph by Chuck opened my eyes, keep all of them.

I thought I was sick (my friends and amily think so), but after seeing that closet, I feel good. I have three guns, one of which is a 29, and it's almost more than I can handle having three guns.

I'd feel better if I had a safe -- secure storage is my big fear -- but if I had money for a safe, I'd buy another gun. : )

Impressive, well done!
