Model 28 Highway

Guys I need some help here on the best way to post pix. I want to put up a mint Model 28 6" for sale and guys are going to want to see pictures and I cant blame them. I have had problems trying to post pix. I used Kodak easy share and it took forever, then I timed out. After a few timed outs I gave up. Ay help would be appreciated. One guy suggested photo bucket and I tried and was not to successful there either. I guess I am just a FNG with inexpeirance. Thanks

I would love to help you out here, but I am a lot better with guns than computers. I have problems posting photo's as well, and usually rely on my son for assistance. He is away right now ( at the Girlfriends you know ) so I can't ask him.

The one issue I do consistently have with photos is that the file size is often too large for the site to accept. You might want to check the max allowable and then check your image size. Sorry I can't be of further assistance - I feel your frustration.

If you have a PhotoBucket account its really easy to post pictures.

1. Step one is to take your picture and save it on your PC. Either take the picture using a resolution of 640x480 (VGA) to no more than 2MP (1600x1200). If you made a higher resolution picture then re-size it using any of the photo editing programs to something that will fit most screens,640x480 is good for general posting and if you want something larger use 800x640. Its also good to use smaller file size (greater compression) so select medium or economy image type on your camera if its available before taking the pic. Too high a resolution will take forever to load from the net and gives one too much of a close up when viewing on screen. Use JPG format.

2. Copy your picture into your Photobucket Library.

3. Open the the forum you want to post your picture into in one tab (or window) and create your New Thread post in the "For Sale" section. Type your description of your gun along with sale information but do not "submit" your post until you have added the image information..

4. Open Photbucket in another tab (or window). Go to your library with your pictures you want to add to your post. Under the picture there is a list of code. You want to use the IMG (image code) for the picture you wish to display. Click in the box and then copy the information highlighted by either pressing the CTRL (control) key and "c" at the same time or right click and select "copy" from the box that pops up. You have now copied all the information needed to post the picture in your for sale add to the clip board.

5. Last steps. Switch back to your for sale post. Select where in your post you want the image to appear (usually at the end of the text). Then paste the information you copied by pressing the CTRL and "v" key at the same time. Text should appear with the HTML code (IMG) on the front side and (/IMG) on the tail end. You can now preview or post your message and the picture (s) will appear in the message when its read.

This is about as easy as I can explain the procedure.

Another way is to upload the picture to tinypic.com, then copy the code for message board posting and paste it into your message.

You can also post smaller size photos directly from your computer. Use the "manage attachments" and browse your files. I think 2 meg is about the limit this way though.

the 28 is a wonderful gun. I sometimes think it's the best S&W model.

I have a theory about cross-forum sale chatter, maybe because I'm cynical, or worse -- cynical and mean. It has nothing to do with the OP in this thread because I truly believe he wants help posting pics, so I feel safe spitting it out now.

My theory is that at least once since the Dawn of Creation, someone with something in the WTS forum has come up here to ask "What's it worth?" (or whatever) for the sly but disingenuous purpose of maximizing exposure to a gun that might otherwise have been overlooked by people who had no intention of visiting WTS. Think that ever happens...? Cynical, or cynical and mean?
