Default Model 17-3 burned powder removal

When I have shot with my 17-3 there are built up some burned powder 6 places on the edge of the front of the cylinder. It is about 1 x 2 mm in size. Do you all get this kind of burned power build up? ...it is hard to remove so I will ask for a good advice on how to remove it.

I can't recommend using the green 3M brite pads. It will remove the power but also the blueing. The blueing surface was not as hard as I thought. I did a re-blue by hand and now it looks ok again.

It is flame sprayed lead. You could try the lead remover cloth if it bothers you or hit it quickly with a cigar lighter and it wipes off.

I leave it myself

They all get it. Likely lead plated on there as well as carbon.

A good soak (overnight) with Kroil or Wilson Combat Ultima-Lube II Carbon Remover usually works for me.

A Pro-Shot metal care cloth will also work on blued guns.
Beware that most other cloths are damaging to blued guns.

And, you already had your teaching point about using abrasives...

Ok......så it is lead....that is the reason why it shines when I try to get it off. Maybe I should just let it be sitting on....
When I use lead bullets in myh 686 I don't have this problem so it is something related to .22 LR I guess....
The model 17 cylinder is long compared to the cartridge so bullet travels a long way before it hits the barrel. Maybe this is the reason....
