Default Yoke problem on M65??

I bought a Mod 65 at the local fun show.

There is quite a bit of movement between the yoke and the frame when the cylinder is locked up

Do I need a new locking bolt or a new extractor rod or both??

I did strip the frame and clean out the 30-40 years of crud out of the interior.

Thanks Jim

If the yoke and cylinder lock up when you close them, than all that is needed is to have the yoke re-aligned to the frame. No big deal for a 'smith who has the proper tools/gauges. Does the extractor rod lock up on its front end where the locking bolt enters the hole in the rod when the cylinder is closed? If so, then again, the yoke needs re-aligned.

There is considerable play between the extractor rod and the locking bolt. Guessing 15-35 thousands

This gun had seen a hard life with the Texas Correctional Department, lots of nicks and gouges all over.

The yoke very well maybe bent.

The extractor rod spins with out to much run out

Is the yoke screw the new style with the spring and plunger or the old style? If the old style, perhaps the two round headed sideplate screws screws got mixed up.

If thats not it, I have corrected that by either fitting a new screw, or, peening the top of the button on the yoke a little.

If its end shake, stretch the crane or install shims.
