If the yoke and cylinder lock up when you close them, than all that is needed is to have the yoke re-aligned to the frame. No big deal for a 'smith who has the proper tools/gauges. Does the extractor rod lock up on its front end where the locking bolt enters the hole in the rod when the cylinder is closed? If so, then again, the yoke needs re-aligned.
Is the yoke screw the new style with the spring and plunger or the old style? If the old style, perhaps the two round headed sideplate screws screws got mixed up.
If thats not it, I have corrected that by either fitting a new screw, or, peening the top of the button on the yoke a little.
If its end shake, stretch the crane or install shims.
