The "4-1-1:"
I own a Model 27-2 born in 1978. It's a recent purchase, in beautiful shape, has an 8 3/8" barrel, with S&W wooden presentation grips, also in great shape (and comfortable).

I'm looking for an additional set of rubber grips. I wear an XL glove. I'd like for them to work well with an HKS Speedloader, too.

Thoughts/Suggestions?

Back in the old(er) days Pachmayr made two sizes of Presentation stocks for N-frames. You can probably still find the large size maybe still in production or likely on the used market. They will be "similar" to the factory targets - mainly thinner through the cross-section and a little longer front-to-back. I have pretty big hands too, but I always preferred the small size on my 4-inch Model 29.

The factory target stocks are pretty manageable on the Model 27, especially with the long barrel. If you object to the checkering (some of us do) you might just look around for a smooth set.

Nill also makes some very nice stocks for N-frames in a variety of configurations - all wood, of course. They are not inexpensive but the quality is there.

I have a set of bill jordan grips by pachmeyer. They were built on bill jordans idea. They are huge as he had hands like baseball gloves. They are rounded black hard plastic and are for the N frame. I see they have a narrow slot cut on the bottom so you can see the serial number. They are real light grips. They are smooth with a slight thumb rest for a right hand. I dont know if pachmeyer still makes them or not. I bought them about 30 years ago and never used them. I am going to put them on a gun and try them out again. I belive at the time I bought them that I found them even too big for my hand and I have large hands. Come to think of it I dont remember even seeing another picture of one here all these years. I may put them on one of my smiths and get my wife to take a picture of it. I will post back later.

Here is another huge pair of faux ivory I bought years ago. They are also very large. There is no name on them of the manufactor. I bought them from a vender at a gunshow for I think $65s about 35 years ago. They are out there. These are on a 25-5.

Okay, that worked. I just put those pach`s on a 24-3 .44 special. I am also posting a picture of the 24-3 with magna style stags on it for compareison. Makes it look like a little model 19 doesnt it?

Find you some cokes for it, very nice for the hands!
