Default Help on Model 36

Hi everyone, I am a new guy here and could use some help. I am just getting started collecting older S &W revolvers and bought a model 36 yesterday. It is about 98% with box and papers. 2 inch barrel with flat latch. The ser # is 2021XX, could anyone tell me how old it is? I was born in 64, it would be neat if it is close.I will try to post pics later if I can figure it out. Thanks.

I think between 1957 and 1962.

One with an SN in the 220000 range shipped in 1961, so anywhere between late 1959 (?) and 1961 is possible.

SCSW sez 1957-62. Congrats on your new gun & your new hobby. The model 36 Chief Special is a great little gun, as are all the Chiefs (36, airweight 37, and stainless 60). I have two 36's and a 60, and am buying another 60 later today. Also on the lookout for a 37. (be advised, these things are addictive!)
