Converting S B to RB?
What would be the possibinity/feasability of converting a M10-8 square butt to a round butt? This gun is not a collector or safe queen. It is a shooter and I like the feel of the round butt grip better.

People do it all the time, with greatly varying degrees of craft.

Custom gunsmith's did it quite a bit in the past. Depending on your gun, you mightto better buying or trading for a Round Butt.

Given what RB (3" barrels) are going for these days it might actually be cheeper to have a good smith do the conversion.
One other option is to be patient and wait for a RB 4" to show up on one of the auction sites. They do come up now and again and in 4" configuration don't seem to draw the bidding wars the 3" RB models inspire.

All depends on what you want to put in it. If you're already in the 10 at a low price, then go for it, especially if it's a keeper. There are any number of smiths that'll do the job for you, or if you're handy working with metal, do your own. All you'd need to start are some round-butt K magna style grips to see where to cut.

Paramount to doing the conversion (if you're going to do it yourself) is to first determine that it can be done WITHOUT touching the serial number.
Sometimes the way it is positioned on the bottom of grip frame by the factory, you can't round the back of grip frame off without affecting the last digit of serial number... a big no-no in the eyes of the BATFE.

Well I got 'er done. My local (a mile away) 'smith rounded my butt on my M10-8 for me. He used a round butt Magna grip panel as the pattern and did a really nice job. Didn't get near the serial. Now I'm gonna take him a 2" square butt M10-7 that I got a couple weeks ago. He's already ungrooved the trigger on that one.

Good for you. I personally see no need for a square butt 2" K frame, as a round butt grip hides so much better than a square butt.
