Default Need help identifying .22 revolver!

I have a 2" barrel .22 revolver, that I inherited from my grandfather, with no model #. I would like to discern it's age, model and monetary value. it has a 260XX serial number on the butt, concurrent on crane and barrel. On the frame inside of the crane it is marked:

N
1 3403
3

Your help would be much appreciated.
Thank You.

Model39 has the ID correct. One observation is the hammer has the correct finish (case-hardened) but the trigger has been nickeled or polished. The letters and numbers on the frame near the yoke (crane) are factory internal codes. Hope this is helpful.

Before 1957 all S & W guns had a name instead of a model number, and this one was named the Kit Gun (as in, your supplies and equipment being your "kit").

Assuming it is in good mechanical condition, even with the refinished trigger I'd call it about a $500 gun.
